My name is Attila, I am the founder and owner of itbit.cc.
I started this project because I realized that website owners face a very serious threat.
They don’t believe they are a target for cyber criminals.
They don’t really know what cyber criminals do, who they target and how they work. Since they don’t know, they believe they are safe.
But they are not.
Everybody has heard about cyber security and most website owners think their site is secure. Either because some kind of security system was installed when the website was built or because they think they are not big enough to be on the hackers’ radar.
All this results in them neglecting website security as something that’s already been taken care of or unimportant.
Unfortunately they are wrong.
They ARE being targeted and their site is far from secure unless they took extra care to harden the security – but this is very rare.
To sum it up: not only are these websites targeted and actively exploited, their owners are completely blindsided. They are unaware of what is happening until it is too late.
They don’t know they are vulnerable and are therefore defenseless. And when they discover the breach they are left to suffer the losses and all the other consequences.
This is the problem the itbit.cc project wishes to address.
We have three goals:
- alert WordPress website owners and help them realize they are being targeted right now;
- educate WordPress website owners about who is trying to exploit them, how they are doing it and the ways of protection; and
- provide an automated tool that can evaluate the risks, build a fortress around the website and can continuously monitor and maintain security.
To meet these goals we:
- conduct a fairly aggressive social media awareness campaign and issue the Sitting Duck newsletter;
- provide a growing set of educational materials including a course on phishing and social engineering; and
- offer a free website scanner to see the vulnerabilities on your website and a massive, AI powered system to enhance the protection of your website as well as continuous security monitoring.
This will effectively protect your website.
