Pizza Said: There’d Be War

America has it all. And even more.

There’s even a Pentagon Pizza Report – google it if you don’t believe me.
It is compiled by people who monitor the traffic of pizza places around the Pentagon and the White House and post the findings on X (formerly Twitter).

Even now, when the Israeli-Iranian conflict broke out, they knew something big was in the air because pizza orders to the Pentagon and the White House suddenly went through the roof the night before. Meanwhile, bars in the area were unusually quiet.

All of this suggested that the staff of those institutions as a whole were burning the midnight oil. The prediction was that there would be war at the very least.

It is very interesting to play this kind of game of deduction, although it can also go wrong.

Take, for example, the case of the scientist (in the joke) who was studying the hearing of crickets.

He put a cricket down and told it to jump. The cricket jumped.
He then pulled out the cricket’s legs and told it to jump, but the cricket didn’t move.
This made it clear to him that if we pulled out all the cricket’s legs, it would lose its hearing…

So careful with observations and conclusions.

There can be a whole lot of events behind seemingly straightforward stories and therefore almost anything you see can be misinterpreted.

This is a common twist in plots of comedies as well as crime stories.

It worked in the case of pizza orders and war, although there could have been other reasons.

It’s no different in IT.

Something goes wrong on a website and the owner calls in and wants us to do this or that.
Then we look into it and the problem turns out to be not (or not only) what the client thought it was.

Everything is connected to a number of other elements on the site, so a first glimpse to the site rarely tells all the reasons of what is going on.

This is an enjoyable sort of a detective work and everyone is very happy when they get their site back on track.
Us included.

If you don’t want to predict whether there’s going to be a war be guessing what’s wrong with your site, let’s talk and we’ll step in!

P.S. I’ve got a few more jokes on this topic (better than the cricket one), but one is enough for a day.
